From a grand appearance at the World Cup finals by Davido, Afrobeat once again shuts down the UEFA Champions League finals in a historic and emotional rollercoaster performance by one of Africa’s best Afrobeat exports, Burna Boy.

With the Outsiders band, Burna Boy delivered a flawless performance, featuring numerous hit songs from his discography, accompanied by fanciful footwork that captured the admiration of the UCL fans in attendance. Following his performance, he engaged in an interactive session with CB Sports pundits, including football legend and former Arsenal star Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards, Michael Owen, and Kate Abdo.

During the session, Burna Boy expressed his aspirations to headline the USA Superbowl. He spoke about how watching Thierry Henry and Micah Richards play the beautiful game of football influenced his career as a musician, as he now performs in massive venues like stadiums.

“I’m surrounded by legends right now… You can’t go cut your hair without seeing a picture of them on the wall at the barbershop… I didn’t make it playing football eventually, but somehow, I still made it to football stadiums with a massive fanbase here to see me, and here I am with legends…,” Burna Boy enthusiastically shared.

Furthermore, Burna Boy paid tribute to his late best friend Gabriel Serenkuma, popularly known as Gambo.

Burna Boy credited Gambo for his instrumental role in his rise as a musician and their close friendship. He revealed some time ago that Gambo once sold his wristwatch to help him book a studio session in their early days. To honor his friend’s memory,

Burna Boy shocked the world by taking off his famous custom-made necklace and placing it around Thierry Henry’s neck, saying, “You see the name Gambo on that piece? That’s my best friend, I lost my best friend and him knowing you’re wearing his name right now is the most special thing in the world that I could have ever done…” see video below.
